EVALUATION: Q5
Additional points:
With social media we chose to use twitter as our main social media - looking at all the social media we felt as twitter is the most popular allowing us to reach a much wider audience as Instagram may be less accessible as well as facebook becoming less looked at and interested with twitter providing snappy sentences which still provide the vital information and get their attention.
Also , the look of our blog also has high impact on the attraction of audience with the clear link of urban youth theme allowing the creation of anticipation from all parts.
Our piece was presented in front of up to 110 people which portrayed strong positive energy with clear cheers.
This would not be the case if we chose not to follow the rough cut feedback which includes the need of change in the location as well as camera and editing techniques. In the film opening in itself we created a form of choices to allow a modern ability with the choice of police foul which is intertwined with the music developing a clear genre which can quickly attract the audience. The location in themselves created an edge with the use of colour. This contrasted with Tolu , the character.

How our media product represents particular social groups
Our product is a Youth Drama, in our product there are two characters, a missing girl and her friend (the main character)
Our product represents social groups through the use of mise en scene. The clothing, location and props show that the main character is like a normal teenager from the streets of London where our product is set. Also the main characters body language shows this because he walks while slouching. This supports the common stereotypes shown in current youth drama films because in films like Kidulthood and Attack the block they are set in similar locations, the characters have similar clothing and they have similar body language.

How the story would continue:
In the opening title sequence, we established the two main characters:
In the opening title sequence we hope to hint a parallel story line of the two characters. I , as the director felt that this would be different however still fit into the notions which we associate an urban youth with. The film will evolve as we Tolu's character further into the mourning and depression which he feels towards his 'missing' friend which in the title sequence we can see is clear not. This will allow us a form of tension and conflict to be created by his urge to find her and seeing people who look similar which can lead him to paranoia. In the title sequence we see her explore the same grounds which he plays.
Even though Tolu's character is very much the lead as in all urban films the story of the girl allows us to look at different perspective as we see her break away from the norm and follow something else to what she was taught for such a long while, I think this would be a concept that no one has yet done an would allow something different to be observed on the screen.
A way in which we would show her old life is the flash back in which her and Tolu share like her panicking about a B on a test as her parents would only accept A's and Tolu as a friend comforting her. This shows a sense of struggle on her side and the unreachable expectations that were thrown on her part. With this in her life we would explore elements of London which people abandon (in films) that is not necessary urban but has it's own character like Camden. In Camden is when the audience clearly can see who she is by going to sneaking into small gigs and teach everyone that why she chose to be 'missing' is because she lacked life within herself. Chooses to be tucked away in an attic of her 'lover' which she begged him for. This of course oppose with Tolu who is within the estate and elements which we associate with it and a form of struggle whilst they still wander close by but never have 'contact'.
The tension would break at the peak of the climax when the two parallel parties meet by a very promoted rave which will bring people from all over London. This would lead to a heated conversation to were Tolu punches a wall and goes around London ripping down the poster which he put up.This film would end with him in a telephone booth somewhere in London were he 'contacts' the police and finishes the whole film with the line 'she's dead' and the clip fades as the phone from the booth is releases to hang.

Editing, the process in which we took:
We began the process with placing all clips in draft order to see whether we develop a flow and a pace for the whole piece later, this also allowed us to see what clips were need to be shot again due to any problems like the shakiness or a fade effect due to the lack of focus or poor lighting at the time.
As we received more and more shot we were able to cut down clips or remove as they did not work. We used our timeline to our advantage and placed poor or not to our standard clips on a different line in order to know what we had to improve to provide a good range of shots.
We chose to review each clips with a teacher to make sure all clips were to the best standard allowing us to proceed to focus only the editing of the clips.

Shot 1: (location: Shoreditch) - We chose to use this as one of the shots to represnt who this character. Graffiti in society today is linked to the urban youth and the force of damage this can highlight where in which he grow up and who he is as a person. The colour of the graffiti can contrast his dark colour to emphasis the way in which he feels as he mourns for the 'lose' of his friend when in reality she is very much close by.
shot 2: (location : Hackney)- The open shot can help build again the character with MES. The lack of sun (lighting) can link to his emotions as we link sadness with the darkness of the skies. We also learn the way in which he has grown up with the very clear estate community which can link to the people which he knows and the possible riots of fights which are much more common then in a Victoria house. I believe, this is also the very first time in which we see the character in full to allow us to see the posture which he has which very much highlights his sad state. The clearly heavy bag can be also a metaphor for all the struggles he is caring in addition to his friends disappearance of his friend.
Shot 3: (Location: Hackney - Estate): I find this shot very interesting due to the framing of the character and also the positioning. The framing creates the link to who this story is most focused on even though the girl is present. This is also very common in youth drama and the idea to follow the male. Again we see the character as a whole and enhances the guy which he is portaying.
Location Evaluation :
This is a location evaluation to all the possible places we used to portray our storyline in the
best way that we could.

The first and main location is located at Shoreditch. This
creates an excellent set of area and genre of the film with the use of graffiti
to provide the urban atmosphere that we are trying to portray it being an urban
youth film. The vibrant colours of the wall oppose the emotions portrayed on
the screen of Tolu’s depressed face which allows the highlight of each other
creating greater effect.
Our second location was Tolu’s houses in Hackney, this very
much looked like an urban common location in the East London area which allowed
us to portray and emphasis something about Tolu’s character without dialogue.
Due to an estate is much more commonly linked to the riots back in 2010. This
contrast in the colour of the graffiti in the previous location highlights the
different feelings in which and the transition of the happiness to be training
out of him slowly.
The last locations which we planned to use was the gym that
the college was linked with this. As said in previous post this was not possible at all due to the none cooperating schedules. This lead us later to struggle with story line however we were going to use the gym in order to build the character further. As well as this create a help give the message to the audience to what character Tolu was which was the sterotypical tough guy that spends hours releasing his frustration in the gym and obtrain a sense of control which he feels he has lost.

Changing the name to contact
After long analysis, we came to a conclusion that the name 'wandering' simply wasn't effective enough for our film. We felt the name was too vague and that we needed something that was more relatable. We went over various names and came to conclude that 'Contact' was the most effective name for our film.
Missing Poster - Prop
For our title sequence we have chosen to put in the prop of a missing person in order to create realism and to fit with the storyline. We imitated a real missing persons poster in order to create authenticity.

Things to improve on:
- Many scenes were still shaky even after stabilisation
- Bus scene where he mistakes girl wasn't clear
- Too many walking shots
- Shots lacked good mise en scene
- House scene and walking scenes were too long
- There were many with a big gap on top of the head

This improvement to our schedule meant we were more organised and properly knew the order
of how we were going to film our different scenes.
2) The other integral bit of feedback we got after the pitch was to make the story line simpler and
not to over complicate things as it was just a title sequence and not a small film.
This meant that we didn't make the film to complicated and it remained simple but effective.
3 opening sequences that inspired us.
Before we started the filming process, we looked at various youth dramas in order to get inspiration for our film. We took close analysis on the films and used them as a means of producing ideas for our own title sequence. We closely looked at how the shots were filmed, and tried to recreate the best shots in our film.
The first film we chose to look at was one of the most famous youth dramas in the U.K, 'Attack the block'. Attack the block inspired us to create an urban looking atmosphere. Attack the block showed us that we should try to use an area that looked kinda rough, preferably one with graffiti as it enabled the audience to relate with it.
It wasn't just locations that we took from the 'Attack the block' opening sequence though, as we were also inspired by the costume used by the main protagonist. The main character wore the typical garments that are associated with a 'street child'. We used this and tried to replicate the clothes with the main character.
The music video from the Roots 'You got Me' has influenced us to make our youth drama title sequence. This is because the narrative is about a guy who walks through the streets, expressing his feelings for a girl, trying to search for her and find her. The way the shots are filmed. allows us to see his emotions which is why we filmed next to a graffiti wall as the bright colours contrast with the saddened street boy, trying to find his friend. The props also influences us to have the missing poster as he is constantly being reminded of her visually which is like haunting him and it emphasises how much he misses her.
The trailer for Honey Trap also inspired us to create a narrative of a young person trying to find themselves through someone else. Also Honey Trap was filmed at Hackney which is a really gritty urban area which is the perfect mise en scene for the character as it reflects on them and their social class. The part where the girl makes her way to her estate also influenced us. due to the way it was filmed and composed; getting all the graffiti. The costumes of the 'street boys' also influenced us as we were able to dress our protagonist in the similar way. On the home page of our website we have the poster as the background so that viewers can identify our poster and familiarise themselves with it. We have also put it as the background as it establishes the genre of the youth drama and so that the audience is introduced to the protagonist.
We have also included the date when it will be on television and have made the date bold and clear so that people know exactly when its on, We also countdown to remind them that its going to be released soon.
On this page 'The Making' our audience will find out more about the series through the director, the title designer, the production company and lastly the entertainment company. We have made sure that the colours on this page compliment with the theme of our poster.
This page gives a little synopsis to the viewers about who the characters are and the roles they will play. It also introduces the storyline through the characters and it also demonstrates the stereotypes that they may play. This page also shows a few pictures of the crew, so that viewers get that feeling of exclusivity and get a taste of behind the scenes,
The last page allows people to automatically connect this page with their social media and we offer a range of social media that they can share from. This will attract more youth to know about our new series.

Social Networking
We have made a twitter page to update people on what we are doing for our title sequence. We post pictures of us filming, tweet about where we are filming and tweet the stages we are at when editing and making things like the soundtrack. We also tweet with common hashtags so our twitter page is more recognised by the public.
Costumes
The lifestyle of the characters in the title sequence is similar to modern teenagers. Because of this we chose to make the characters in our sequence wear things that are similar to what a normal teenager today would wear outside. The characters in our sequence wear caps, hooded jackets and jeans. We chose to make the costumes similar to the ones that are in existing teen dramas e.g. Kidulthood and Attack the Block.
